I’m a longtime fan of a reality TV show called The Bachelor, and today is a very sad day. Contestant Gia Allemand has passed away, and it’s tragically being reported as a suicide. (which has now been confirmed)
A lot of folks like to make fun of these shows, but the bottom line is that the people on them are still real. They have real lives, and they have real problems.
I know this is true because I had coffee a few years ago down in Dallas with Jake Pavelka from the Bachelor and we talked about it. He shared a bit about the struggles he had on the show, and the ones he had off the show.
Gia’s death is a haunting reminder that we will die — whether it’s at a young age, or at an old age. Whether it’s at our own hand, or simply just our time to go.
I’ll save this for another post, but the idea of dying is becoming more and more “real” to me. As the days go by, I’m realizing there’s less time for me to live.
