Oops, I Did it Again…

Every couple months I have a Friday night where I’m inspired by incredible design.

It’s no secret that I’m schizophrenic when it comes to my site, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. And I also enjoy trying to see how far I can take Genesis.

This time I’m going Tumblr style. But with WordPress.

Looks nice as always…Meanwhile there is only one tumblog style theme in StudioPress Theme collection, i.e. I know – Tapestry. Are there any plans to launch tumblr and posterous style theme in future..?

Nice… I like typography and whitespace. I hate not being a designer because I can’t put what’s in my head on paper good enough to get a designer to make what I want. I can however make a damn good sharpie wireframe :)

Loving the minimalistic look, and the floating top bar “ala Google+”.

I love the psot format icons as well. Is that homemade, or can we find them in an icon set somewhere, if I may ask?

Congrats on the redesign – again! ;)

Snaps to the floating toolbar, the minimalist design and the embrace of change.
But you talk to the hand with the gray background and the serif font.
I’m just noticing the bottom of the page… gray on gray on gray with accents of bubblegum pink… why am I craving a box of Good n’ Plenty now?
This has been you’re Bitchy Designer Minute (oh, I have got to make that into a website!)

I’m the same way, always tweaking my site. I’m on it more than most so, I need to update, update, update cause otherwise it’s so yesterday. ;p

I should start a screenshot collection to visually watch the evolution and perhaps make a video of all the pics at the end of the year to “watch” it bloom ♥

Overall I really like it. I’m not quite digging the grid background behind the text — but when I remove it, the site really pops and I find it very nice to read.

I like that you’re stepping out from your shades of gray with a little color, even if it is pink.

Ok. I don’t really like the pink much. But color is good. Really.

How often do you change your site’s design, Brian? I’m a bit like that myself. I really like to switch it up, but I don’t want to lose any part of whatever branding I may have accomplished.

By the way, I’m not crazy about this design. It’s almost too simple. It looks a bit elementary for a talented designer. Also, the links are pink on my screen. Pink? No. But, most importantly, it needs to suit you!

I thought I was the only schizo when it comes to my own site. I love it!
I wish all my clients could see the beauty of simplicity when I design a Genesis site.:-)
Didn’t you just do a re-disign a couple of weeks ago?

I can take it. It’s simple, and right now I wanted it to be. I’m (personally) not a fan of overdesigning, and wanted to make the palette easy to digest. Once I get posts with images, videos, etc up things will start to take shape.

Hmmm…personally, I liked the other design better. I liked the sidebars and the images in the header. But, again, I can appreciate the simplicity of all text. :) I understand the schizophrenia with site design. I’m always looking for a way to change mine, so it’s nice to know that other people understand that.

    Hi again Brian,
I think designing on Genesis feeds your schizophrenic monster. Now it only takes a couple hours to remake a site instead of an entire weekend. My wife is certainly happy about that.

I’m the same as you when it comes to wanting to renew my themes regularly, however I’m definitely not the designer that you are.

Are there any chances of you releasing the previous theme??

  13. says

I liked the previous design better than this one… I actually thought I’d gone straight to an inner page not the homepage! Maybe you should try a theme with the #12 palette from the winter colour inspiration ;)

  14. says

I personally think it’s a fantastic idea. I have so much on my plate that I just don’t make the time to write full-blown blog posts very often. I’ve been playing with blogging Tumblr-style just so I can write bite-sized pieces when I think of them. I was very inspired by your “thought stream” when I saw it!

Brian — I’m sure I am not alone in knowing you would not stick with the last design, or the next, or the next… When there are so many possibilities you just can’t help yourself! It’s the challenge of something new; “to go where no man has gone before” that has made you who you are today.

Looking forward to more of the same.. ;-)

    Hey Brian!

Cheers on the new site design (again)! ;-)

I’ve got a horizontal scrollbar at the bottom of the browser on the Mac, on Chrome and Safari (but not on Firefox). Just a heads-up my friend…

Thumbs up from me Brian – love the site.
The black with turquoise is a great favourite of mine and it looks fabulous on this site.

The CSS styled media buttons look good and I notce that they have counters with them.

I miss the back to top link – a long way to scroll when there are lots of comments and… maybe a tad bigger font?

Looking forward to this one being released.
