Three and a half years ago I started my blog, and today marks a day in history. I am self-destructing my personal (which became business) blog and starting fresh with a new lifestream.
Call it an experiment, but it’s been something I’ve wrestledwith for months now. Seems like years, actually.
I suppose that mass destruction is a bit harsh. In fact, now that I think about it, really not that accurate. It’s only being moved, to another place for those of you who want to read what I’ve written over the years. I’ve struggled with wanting to write about my personal life – so today marks the day where my personal site becomes, for lack of a better phrase… personal.
If you want to hear about what’s going on with my business and StudioPress, you can read all about that here. But if you want access to the little voices that I hear inside my head, feel free to come here daily or get it delivered to your inbox.
Brian, as one that’s been inspired by your story and your leadership in the WordPress community, I wish you all the best on the “new” blog. I look forward to more inspiration, education and giving you a beatdown in Fantasy Baseball this season.
Peace.
Thanks Kevin, I appreciate that – all up until the part where you ignorantly mentioned giving me a beatdown in Fantasy Baseball.
Brian, well good for you! I landed here today on your blog’s anniversary by accident while searching for Studio Press themes that use the Featured Content Gallery. Wowwo! I’m glad to be one of the first to say CONGRATULATIONS on keeping it real. I enjoy your tweets on Twitter, love the great support you and your team provide at Studio Press, and NOW I get to look forward to all things Brian *Personal* Gardner. Blog on!
Hey Debra, thanks to you as well for your continued support – it means a lot to know that our hard work continues to pay off and that others can benefit. Now off to being personal!
Brian:
I have to say that keeping up with my own little voices is a chore sometimes. Can’t imagine what its like to keep up with somebody else’s little voices at the same time! Just thinking about it gives me a headache. LOL On serious side I really appreciate reading your blog. As a fellow brother in Christ, I always find it comforting to know that there are others out there just like me.
Hey Roger – thanks so much, and I know what you mean with keeping up with those voices. Sometimes I get so busy focusing on the business side of my life, that I neglect the personal side. Being an intellectual person at the core, once in a while (if not more now) I need to be able to express all of the stuff I think.
I love to read more about what goes on in your mind and life.
It takes courage to start a blog that gives people a view of your thoughts and experiences. Kudos to you for starting this new blog.
Ps. Could you check the signup widget in you menu, it gave me an error so I described via the link in your post.
I think I’m in the same boat as you. It too have been struggling writing about my personal life on my blog. It’s been a bit hard to separate the WordPress stuff from just my life. And, I haven’t had a place to unleash life stuff in a while.
I’m waiting on the 3.0 launch to move toward a more lifestream-centric blog. There’s just a few features it has that I want to implement.
Hey Justin – nice to see you drop by and comment. I imagine that you and I aren’t the only people who go through this especially as all of our businesses grow. I’ve got a hunch that Custom Post Types have something to do with your wait.
I love the little voices in your head
Me too, and now all of my blog readers will be able to hear them as well!
Brian … Just ran across the “new” blog from one of your more recent Tweets … figured you’d appreciate hearing that I did one of my first WordPress projects for a “client” on the Revolution Blog theme. My All-Theme package with StudioPress since your first Walk Promotion has been the only way I could ever imagine getting by with the side projects I manage to take on for people that get referred to me. I couldn’t even consider these projects without StudioPress, Genesis, and the great team you’ve put together.
Keep up the amazing work and I’m sure you’ll continue to see nothing but growing success!
I love that your Blog-o-pocalypse happened on Tax Day! I’m sure Nate would appreciate that too …
@JeremyCee
I’m with Jeremy above about StudioPress…
Always nice to see the evolution of a personal site/blog. The great thing about it is that it can be whatever you need it to be at that point in time. Archives are there for a reason.
Enjoy the new style, as I know we will.
Cheers.
