Three Cheers, Introducing the Genesis Awards

I thought hard about posting this at StudioPress, but ultimately felt it wasn’t fair to post MY opinion out there on behalf of everyone who is a part of our team.

Now that I got that off my chest, I’d like to introduce *my* choices for the Genesis Awards… congrats to everyone who won!

Best About Page – Spyr Media
The moment I laid my eyes on this page I realized just how awesome Genesis (with the help of some wicked good guys) could be used. Huge props to Dave LaTulippe for the design and Jeff Sarris for the implementation.

Best Comments Design – The TomKat Studio
Ladies, I have to warn you – when you visit Kim Stoegbauer‘s site you might have design envy. This site is one of my favorites – Lindsey Riel did an outstanding job. My favorite part of the design is the way the comments are styled.

Best Email Subscribe Box – Amy Porterfield
When I saw Amy Potterfield‘s redesign on Genesis I didn’t even notice that her email subscribe box was, well… an email subscribe box. It integrates so seamlessly into her site, it had me from hello. Excellent job, Amy!

Best Event Site – Problogger Events
I’m quite partial to this one since we did the redesign on Darren’s Problogger site – but you can’t deny just how cool this design is for an events site.

Best Homepage Design – Seward Helicopter Tours
I’m a skier, which might explain this one – however, you have to agree with me that Joe from Sundog Media killed it with this homepage design. Excellent use of colors and slider effects makes this award very easy to give out.

Best Kids Site – Woo! Jr.
You may not know this, but this site is run by my friend Wendy Piersall – and she has an entire network of site for kids. You can’t deny how fun this site is – can you?

Best News Site – Florida International
There are too many reasons why I like this site – it’s clean, well laid out and overall has some pretty awesome effects. Go ahead and see for yourself…

Best One-Page Design – Red to Gray
Breathless… that’s pretty much how this awesome design by Lauren Mancke and Northbound Design made me feel when I saw it. This is an example of a site that really showcases how uniquely Genesis can be used.

Best Site Layout – Eat Life Whole
You knew it was coming – a Genesis Awards ceremony isn’t complete unless ninja Bill Erickson takes home a trophy. There all all kinds of reasons that this site wins, so go check out the site layout awesomeness that’s going on over there.

Best Sports Site – North West Sports Blog
If you live in the Northwest (or anywhere really for that matter) you might find yourself frequenting this outrageously cool sports site developed by Chris Cochran.

Best Tumblog-style Site – EightCrazy the Blog
WordPress. Check. Post Format. Check. Icons. Check. I’d say that Shannon Dow really showcases how Genesis can be used in a tumblog style environment.

Best Use of Icons – ListPlanit
Here’s another example of how Genesis can be used to run a full blown website. With attention to detail and a pristine design from the talented Chris Ford, this site just screams gorgeous.

Thank you very much for posting them all here.
I can get more inspiration by looking at they, and yes!!!

Nice idea, Brian, rocks! :) And I’m glad, you posted it here on your personal blog, it really fits better! — I for myself really loved the Seward Helicopter website, the site is around for a while but absolutely awesome for some classic bussiness approach website. Stunning! And really cutting edge is the “Red to Gray” site by Lauren Mancke, so cool! Impressive collection for an impressive framework! — Come on, Genesis Ninjas, we want some more… :)

Great collection here. I particularly love the Amy Porterfield site. Her email subscribe box reminds me of Social Triggers – but more visually appealing. I also dig the not-so-subtle eyes looking at the text in Amy’s footer.

Eat life whole is the best of the bunch, imo. Great design.

Just gotta say I’m truly honored to be on this list with some great sites as well as awesome people.

Genesis is as flexible as diverse it’s community is. It’s ability to form to whatever the vision for a site is amazing and definitely visible here on this list.

Brian, and to the rest of you at StudioPress; Thanks for building such a solid product that has become the base of a strong building community that I only see growing larger and better. I have already met some amazing people through the Genesis Framework and hope to continuing meeting more great people and great minds.

I’m so happy to be on this fantastic list! I looked at all the other sites here and they are incredible. I am new to Genesis and I am loving it to say the least – there’s just so much you can do with it!

Love seeing your choices Brian. Great inspiration. I was about to post this on my WordPress users group when I realized I couldn’t see when it was posted. Not even the comments are dated. Food for thought.

Congratulations to all of the studiopress winners. I will be reposting over in my Pro Mom Blogger Network for sure. I was confused for the longest about what a One Page Design was but now I know. Awesome Brian (been a fan since Revolution Themes). I’m gunning for next year for sure.

Wow! Some great choices Brian. I’ve looked at the Bill Erickson site before. If I could learn 1/2 of the things Bill does with Genesis, I’d be well on my way to ninjahood myself :) Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the kind words Brian. Our guy Chris does indeed do some great work. But he also needed some help with widget placement. (My specialty) Thanks for creating a great product.
