The Easy Way to Embed a Tweet in a Blog Post

Many folks have asked me if it’s possible to embed a tweet in a blog post. Twitter makes that extremely easy to do so all you need to do is follow these instructions.

Login to your Twitter account, and go to your “tweets” page. If you’re logged in, all you need to do is go to your Twitter page like mine at http://twitter.com/bgardner.

Look for the tweet you want to embed and then click on the “expand” link and then you’ll see some more information about the tweet. You’ll notice a “details” link after the date, so go ahead and click that.

Here’s a screenshot to show you what this will look like:

After you click the “details” link, your tweet will open into it’s own page. There you will see the tweet, who retweeted and favorited it as well as a “embed this tweet” link.

Click the “embed this tweet” link, and a screen will pop up which gives you options for embedding your tweet.

Once you’ve selected the options you want for embedding your tweet, copy the code that is provided to you and paste it into your blog post.

In 3.4 this will be even easier.

Get the URL of the tweet the same way. Paste it in just like you would paste in a video :) It’s oEmbeded :D You won’t get the cool options (yet, I’m sure that’ll be sussed out), but they aren’t rolled out to everyone yet.

ahhhh, I’ve always wanted to know how to do that! That was easy! New(er) to the world of Twitter. Maybe you need to do a tutorial on the ins and outs of Twitter…I’m just winging it :)

    BG-

Is there a tool to make tweetable quotes? Halpern uses them in his blog copy to incentivize tweets. Example:

“inspirational quote in blog copy” – philosopher [Tweet this]

I know you can hardcode one using the /intent/ url system, but it is pretty annoying.. :) Thanks!

I tried this but it does not embed it with the picture and graphics – just text and it does link the hashtags but not my twitter handle. Ideas on what I’m missing?

When I was embedding the tweet, it would not include my twitter picture or the pictures of those who RT’d the tweet. It was all simply text with just hashtags hyperlinked. My twitter handle wasn’t hyperlinked.

I ended up using a widget to get it to work.

Yes you’re right Brian, it only works for tweet. If what you mean is a tweet of an image, that won’t work Melissa, even if you use plugin like black bird pie.

Thanks brian for such a great help and I was looking to embed my tweets but don’t know how to do that. But, now I can do it easily.

    Thanks again :-)
