Chris - Just an update in this regard...

* Marianne has left the team, which takes away the biggest part of the overhead expenditure. My fiance will be joining the team on a volunteering basis after our wedding in October to fill the gap that Marianne's departure has left.

* Since that post, we've gotten enough funding to pay for Okuhle & Mariana for the next year. So the response to that post has been very positive. :)

* The lack of activity on the blog is my own fault and it's just due to me compiling a new advisory board (which Brian will be on too) and finalizing our new strategy & direction. We are considering some slight tweaks to the website as well as our model (to be more like Kickstarter + Charity:Water + Kiva).

So feel free to reconsider your offer. :P

I'm sorry Bryan, I'm going to retract that offer. I love to donate and do to a variety of foundations on a regular basis but, from the looks of the Rockstar Foundation website, they are in deep financial trouble almost entirely due to what appears to be exorbitant overhead. And, despite the fact that this overhead appears to be made up in great part by salaries of employees apparently dedicated to the foundation, week old spam comments and an outdated blog are present on the site.

With the wide variety of organizations accepting donations for similar causes, a badly kept website and unreasonable overhead definitely push me in other directions. Given your level of commitment to your other projects, I might take this opportunity to encourage you to continue on with GivePress.

Definitely no slight to Adii is intended; the project is a worthy one and I can imagine the time, effort and money he has put into it. But, at the end of the day, the real question on my mind when I give is "how much of this ends up directly aiding the intended recipients?" - given the reasons noted above, I don't feel confident that the answer would satisfy me where the Rockstar Foundation is concerned.

Cheers for reading and my apology for the too-quick post to begin with!

Thanks Luke... I like the kind of action as well. Having people like you who are also generous make the journey towards making the world a better place that much more enjoyable!
