WOW…that was so emotional. We had our own experience with that terrible disease. I’m sorry for your loss but thank you for sharing. You realize how important your health, family and friends are everything else isn’t.

  2. Thanks Gio. Yes, this is an event that really puts life into persepctive. Being married to someone that I care for so much, I could not imagine losing her to something like this. And to think that some husbands, and mothers, and children go through this is something that I cannot comprehend. Thanks for your support!

Good for you, Brian! I’ll be thinking of you this weekend.
My mother-in-law is a survivor of a particularly rare form of breast cancer, and I have several other relatives in remission from the disease. I’m glad you are doing what you can to help the fight!
(My little bit, since I’m nowhere near any organized walks, is this: http://tatmom.com/?page_id=17 Donations go to the Breast Cancer Society.)

  4. Hey Rebecca, thanks for the support as well. Congratulations on your mother-in-law’s survival, and kudos for your “little bit”.

  5. Remkus Says:

That was emotional indeed. We just lost one of our closest and dearest friends two months ago. She struggled and fought against this terrible disease for four long years, leaving behind to great small kids and a devastated husband…

Good for you for bringing this to the attention of your audience Brian. Thanks.

  6. Remkus, very sorry to hear about your loss. When it hits home, it is never easy, and I want to do all that I can to change that. Even though my site is more about my “business” and “design”, I couldn’t help but post the video. It helps define who I am, and I want people to know that.

  7. Remkus Says:

Thank you. I completely agree with you. All the way.

  8. Susan Says:

Wow. Words can not express the emotions I have right now from watching this. God Bless you and everyone who walk for such an important cause. Everyone on the walk will be in my thoughts and prayers

  9. Susan, thanks for taking the time watch. I know that it’s hard to take time out of a busy day to watch something like this, but it’s really a fantastic video, and helps explain the cause. Thanks for your prayers!

Lord knows I wasn’t really looking for perspective when I opened up Google Reader this afternoon, but bam! there it was staring me in the face. Thanks for that and good luck.

  11. Sure thing Don, glad I could serve up some perspective! (and thanks!)

  12. Russell Says:

Brian congratulations on showing support for those who have circumstance in their lives that are a challenge to understand, both to those that have the event of breast cancer, and those who are left behind.
There are many events that challenge us all it is a great sign of the basic goodness of humanity to show, and express, caring and support for those in need,be they a stranger or family. We all are connected in some way or another.

  14. Rick Says:

    Hi Brian,

Very emotional. My company donates every year to the Susan G Koman foundation. After seeing this it’s a good feeling to see the hope that it brings. My family and I have been blessed in so many ways. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to lose someone so close and so young.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    All the best!

    Rick

Thank you for walking Brian. Thanks also for posting the video and sharing how important this walk is to you. I am scheduled for 2 screenings with diagnostics next week due to a recent find. It’s too easy for women to procrastinate in these busy times…and I almost did, except for your post. Thank you for supporting the Cure…and lighting a fire under my bootie.

  16. A very special thanks to all of you who left comments - I just got back this afternoon, and am happy to be home. The weather was fantastic, the 60 miles are over with and most importantly, we’ve taken a step closer towards ending the cure.

I believe that our Chicago event raised $6.6 million! :)

  17. Neri Says:

thaaaaaanx for inspire me to my new site design.

  20. Brian, I ran across your site while looking for some Breast Cancer related wordpress material and saw that you were walking Chicago this year. Just wanted to say that it’s nice to see other guys getting involved in this walk. I walked Chicago for the second time this year and I walk to honor my mother who is a two time survivor. You can’t really explain the 3 Day to anyone who has not walked. It really is a great experience. Did you walk as part of a team?

  21. REALonomics Says:

My mother was a long term (20+ yr) cancer survivor and we are grateful for that. As anyone who has had the desease knows, even when you survive, there is always the ghost of cancer following you. Your efforts are appreciated.
