The Aftermath
Well it has only been 5 days since Jason and I launched the Revolution Two open source website, and I can assure you this has been a very hectic and chaotic time for us.
You really can’t imagine just how intense the closing of a website and opening of another can be until you go through it – definitely not for the faint of heart. We’ve had a few bumps in the road, mainly slow server load times, but I’ve been doing my best to work on that one.
Some fun statistics…
So far, the Revolution Two site has had over 25,000 unique visitors, while the support forums already has over 1,300 posts in it. Not bad for 5 days, which explains why it’s been very tough to answer all emails and comments on my blog. Believe it or not, those numbers are actually higher than I anticipated.
What’s to come…
Well on this past Friday I spent a few minutes to code and release the White Canvas photo theme, which I figured would appeal to those who prefer white backgrounds. In addition, this coming week Jason is planning on releasing versions of the theme he had on WP Elements as well as the theme that is currently on his personal website which will be a portfolio theme.
I am working on a few more variations of the Black Canvas photo theme (for other niche-type sites) as well as a working on a media theme that will be a mocha/NY Mag type feel.
In other words…
Jason and I are extremely busy, and doing our best to develop high quality themes, while ensuring the very best support. If you have any suggestions on themes for us to consider, please don’t be shy – leave a comment and let us know!

We all are so amazed with the kind of work you guys have produced, and we can understand that its been tough time handling those mails and messages. But you guys still managed to to create these awesome themes.
Thats something really incredible.
I would like a theme that is going to be automatically integrated into either autoblog or feedwordpress.
This would help with mu sites and other sites that would be used as aggregators. Some are actually used for good.
I would also like to see some that are similar to the popurls.com website.
Just links but in a pretty way.
thanks
jonathan
Serves you right for launching early
Congrats on the stats!
With that kind of traffic, I have to ask: How many downloads have you had since launch?
Brian, the themes are gorgeous. I have downloaded and been playing around with them.
I just wonder how other premium WordPress theme sellers will react to premium becoming freemium. God bless you for your generous spirit.
Brian – Rev2 looks fantastic. I can’t wait for a media version of your white canvas theme. The concept dovetails with the overall opensource blogging network I’m developing. Great luck with the future.
Oranges, yes, I really don’t know how people Darren Rowse does it, as I’m sure he gets a ton more email than me.
Jonathan, we’ll see it all pans out – I know that we plan to work with BuddyPress once Automattic releases it officially.
MK, serves us right huh? Just for being sarcastic I won’t share the download stats! LOL – I don’t want to get into specifics, just know it has been a lot!
DWT, thanks – glad to know that our work so far has been well received. More great themes to come!
Ed, hm, a media version of the Black Canvas theme… me likey!
Hi Brian, do you still get to sleep? LOL Seriously, I’m really thankful for all the generosity you and Jason have shown. I’ve already used your Revolution Church theme on my website and it still needs a whole lotta tweaking so I’m saving up in order to get access to the support forum. Kudos to you and I hope you don’t get tired of sharing your talents with the world
looking good, as usual! and you’re right, there ARE a lot of posts on the new forum…heading back over now…
Hi Brian,
I’ve never been much of a religious man, but if you can tell me why your Vertigo 3 theme won’t load in Firefox I promise I’ll go to church next Sunday!
: )
Brian,
Superb work.
I’m sure I’ll become a pro member.
Any chance of a white version of Revolution TV?
Many thanks
David
Glad you made it through fairly unscathed. Thanks for being so open with your customers and fans!
Just joined the new forum.
Looking good.
I’m on the verge of joining up with the $149 plan, but would like to know if the themes can handle images larger than 500px without breaking, in all typical browsers. Most of my images are smaller than that, but there are a few, scattered over a couple of years of posting, that are 500px or larger and I would like to avoid redoing those if possible.
Thanks.
