So I Had a Little Free Time

15

This is what happens when I had a few hours to kill the other night in between big projects. From time to time, I am able to come up for air, and can “play” around with my own website. I must say that it feels pretty good to finally get this new design out of my brain - it’s been there for way to long. Kinda like a monkey of my back, so to speak.

For those of you who want to know the big question… yes, my previous theme will be available for download in the near future. Phase one was the redesign of my theme, phase two will be the cleaning up, enhancing and re-releasing of Blue Zinfandel, Dropshadow and Vertigo.

The new theme is hot. I look forward to seeing your work.

  2. Thanks Tiffany, glad you like it! I’m not quite done customizing it, but I guess Rome wasn’t built in a day, huh?

  3. Richard Says:

    Fantastic theme. Beautiful.

  4. Hey Richard, thanks for the kind words! :)

  5. Stephen Says:

The theme looks great Brian, but what happened to your new logo and branding? Couldn’t you adapt it slightly or find room for it in the header?

  6. Yannick Says:

Looks nice Brian. Rome surely wasn’t built in a day but at the rate you are going with redesigns, it sure looks like Rome was. :)

    Keep up the great work.

  7. Daniel Says:

Looking good. I noticed you added a “Feed me with RSS” icon below every single post. This is very efficient.

Not meaning to be offensive or anything here, but… this redesign seems to be quite pathetic and well, as an example, you have a front page story entitled craving water and a quote from that post is:

“While this boy craves water, I decide to cry over spilled champagne.”

Well yeah, fair enough, but whats even more pathetic, is that you spent however much on rebranding yourself and this site, only to rip it all down and start over with completely new colours and it seems you have now wasted the time, money, and effort, on rebranding yourself and this site.

It makes no sense, and expresses this “other side” of you, as a selfish, arrogant, and pompous moron with no thoughts for anyone other than himself. Quite sad really.

Andreas if you feel that way then don’t visit the site. I think many people are to critical to keep a separate line between your business and personal life I see that Brian is trying to use what lime light he has to try to turn peoples thoughts from not only thinking about design but thinking about some one else besides ourselves.

  10. Armen Says:

I’m in shock! How on earth can someone so well respected, lower themselves to such a degree that is absolutely disgusting!

I’m doubting that this really is Andreas to be honest. More likely a pseudo-Andreas, or at least I hope so.

Anyway, top job again Brian. Not so sure about the ‘Brian Gardner’ header, but maybe that’s something you’re working on.

  11. I will respond in greater detail to Andreas comment… looking back I realize that I didn’t phrase my thoughts with the right words, so I have edited my post a bit.

  12. P.S. That comment was not made by the real Andreas, just to be clear. My stat counter proves that. And Armen, yes, the logo from my previous theme will be on this - just ran out of time to work it in the other night!

  13. Armen Says:

I figured. I’m glad you checked that out. It’s just someone trying to make it look like Andreas is jealous of you, which of course is completely daft, and very sad.

I’m glad you changed your theme to be honest, it was looking way too much like mine. I mean, if you want ideas bro, just ask. ;)

Digging the new look, and now that the logo has made a reappearance, it’s even better.

Only 1 minor, teesy weensy criticism (or suggestion) though…there’s not much differentiation between headings in the footer and the ’s, in addition, perhaps use some of that magnificent shade of blue in the footer as well.

    Other than that, love it.

  15. Chris, thanks for the feedback - and yes, I agree about the header/links differentiation. Added blue hover blocks as well. Great advice!
