Sex, Blogs and Rock ‘n’ Roll
A few weeks ago I received an email from a couple wanting to customize my Revolution News theme for their website Ask Dan and Jennifer. After reviewing what they were currently doing with their site, I knew that Revolution would be ideal for the things they wanted to accomplish on their site.
We exchanged emails for a few days, and finally decided that the Revolution Magazine theme would work best - after all, it was set up for videos, advertising and had options to make page layouts flexible. We had to take into consideration the amount of content they have, and this was exactly what they were looking for!
The past few weeks we’ve collectively been customizing and enhancing the theme - and yesterday, their website officially went live with the new design!
I have done and seen many customizations to the Revolution theme, but their site by far takes the cake in regards to how far the theme can actually go. I’m very proud of what we’ve done with it, and their website is a great example of how much the theme can be customized.
I really enjoyed working with Dan and Jennifer - they were both very knowledgeable with WordPress/PHP coding, so I can’t take all of the credit here. They knew exactly what they wanted, and that is one thing that is really important when trying to do a site redesign. With the amount traffic they are getting, making sure everything is right was vital, and at the moment, things seem to be working just fine!

Guess, I’ll have to wait until I get home to check out the design. The site is filtered out by our corporate proxy.
I don’t know, it looks little bit cluttered IMHO.
Also I’m not a big fan of Archives,Pages and similar stuff showed at homepage…
Well the site is definitely got a lot going on there, but overall I think the design and layout are very good. I would definitely be in favor of thinning it out just a tad.
Great job on the redesign Brian, Dan & Jennifer! It looks fabulous. You have really taken advantage of the Revolution theme and probably pushed the envelope a bit!
I wonder if you could show a before image to go with the after so that people who haven’t seen where it started can see how great the change has been.
From a non-designer’s (i.e. reader’s) perspective, the site is chock-full of content and the designer is the perfect wrapper for organizing it all. Viewing the site certainly has given me ideas how to improve the look of my site.
Oh, btw, good job, Brian.
Hey Brian,
We just wanted to say thanks, we’re extremely happy and excited about the new look. It’s really beautiful, functional, versatile, just all around great.
You’ve really done a lot to make blogs look professional and get away from the good-old “weblog” online journal look.
And we definitely appreciate your never-ending patience. As you say, yes, we definitely know what we want, to every little detail… which can be a royal pain sometimes. And sometimes you get a rush of inspiration, and the details of what you want change a whole bunch. So is life.
For everyone else reading this - Brian was a pleasure to work with and we recommend him HIGHLY. Feel free to contact us through our site for any referral questions and we’ll be happy to help.
Thanks again Brian!
Dan & Jennifer
I just checked the site and I can see that the “Subscribe today” menu gets disaligned and goes down between the nav menu and the channels section. Btw, I’m using Mozilla Firefox on a 1024×768 resolution. Other than that, the design and layout looks good but if you ask me, I think it would be better if the videos were put together in one section of the page and not scattered everywhere.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the footer is also messed up in Firefox, 1024×768.
You don’t really need or want that lifestyle, it might hurt y’all slowly more…….Just tell him you
don’t wanna repeat something your not too proud of z7uas.
