Revolution Pro Theme Development
I just wanted to take a quick moment and announce that the Revolution Pro theme has undergone the initial stages of construction. The basis for design on this theme, will be the new look that the Revolution Theme site currently has. Below is a sneak peek of the theme:

One of the things that will be different with this theme than the other is the offering of a few different packages. Here are the ones that will be offered:
Revolution Pro Blog Package
This will be a simplified version, which will incorporate the standard single post and single page layouts, as most WordPress themes have. A left hand and a right hand sidebar option will be included.
Revolution Pro Business Package
This will serve as the basis of a small business/corporate website, and will resemble the layout of the original Revolution theme. With more emphasis on static content and more of a CMS, this package will include a customizable home page, featured page, contact page, single post and single page layouts. A left hand and a right hand sidebar option will be included.
Revolution Pro Media Package
This will be capable of accommodating a wide variety of things - including a tabber section, featured video spot, places for advertising banners, possible social networking implementations, and a few other potential things. This package will include a customizable home page, featured page, news page, contact page, single post and single page layouts. A two-column sidebar will be included.
All packages will be WordPress 2.3.2 compliant and also will be widget-ready. Stay tuned on the development of this theme, and you can also Subscribe by Email to receive notification on the progress and launch of this theme!

So, where does this leave people who buy your developer package today? Will they have access to these new editions or will they have to shell out again and again to stay up-to-date?
I am impressed by your work but am trying to figure out if it makes more long-term sense to stick with free options such as Mimbo and Visionary; the free solutions may not be as slick as your product but at least you know that you aren’t going to be locked out as they develop.
I am not complaining, it is your absolute right to charge whatever you think the market can bear. I am just expressing the doubts that are preventing me from going ahead and making a purchase. I would not be representative of your core market, who are able and happy to pay any amount of money, but I probably am representative of a wider fringe market for whom the value proposition is not as clear-cut, especially with this new product structure and the affiliate scheme confusing matters.
Brian, you keep adding to the Revolution! I’m loving it. Perhaps when I get your developer package this one will be included?
Keep up the great work Brian… this will be one of my next purchases!
Donnacha - that’s a fair question. Here is my stance on a few things about my themes. I offer a lifetime upgrade to each person - meaning if someone purchases the Revolution Magazine theme, they will have access to upgrades for free without any time limit. Meaning all they have to do is purchase the theme once, and they never have to worry about spending any more money on that particular theme.
Same holds true for the Developer Package - as you can see, it used to be 3-in-1, then it became 4-in-1 and now it’s 5-in-1. Which means that when I release this new version, the Revolution Developer Package will become 6-in-1, with no price increase.
So to answer your question, all you have to do is send me an email when this theme comes out, and I’ll send it to you. Hope that helps.
Joe, I just answered your question in response to Donnacha’s comment.
So, just to clarify, whatever bits n’ pieces are in the new Revolution Pro Blog, Business and Media packages, whether that be new widgets or code improvements, your Developer Package purchasers will have access to them?
If so, yes, that sounds absolutely fair and would, I expect, remove doubts for a lot of potential customers.
Donnacha, everyone who has purchased the Revolution Developer package will be able to receive this theme in it’s entirety for no additional charge. (because the Developer Package will become 6-in-1 and I apply retrospectively to those who’ve purchased the package before a new theme has been added.)
Bottom line, is that even if you purchased the package when it was 4-in-1, if it’s 6-in-1 now, you’re entitled to all 6.
That’s great, thanks Brian.
I guess I’ve been bitten too many times by situations in which I’ve bought a premium subscription, only to have another, new “top” level of subscription added later - the Internet has made me suspicious and cynical
Not all of us are bad guys!
Brian , how much is your following packages going to cost?
Revolution Pro Blog
Revolution Pro Business
Revolution Pro Media
Thanks,
Jason
1. Can all current themes be customized 100% including all pages to any design layout of my choosing - removing videos , adding sponsor ads , adding Google Adsense to different pages/ locations within each page etc? How difficult would it be to make needed customizations? Or will we have to wait for the upcoming Pro Blog, Pro Business, or Pro Media?
2. What is the time frame for the new themes to be released?
3.. Can I use third party applications such as http://www.adpeeps.com to sell my own advertising , sponsor ads , etc - Adpeeps.com is a PHP application?
Thanks again ,
Jason
Brian ,
if all themes can be fully 100% customized what is different in one theme compared to others? For example , the Sports theme compared to the magazine theme. I guess I am trying to ask why would I go with the magazine theme compared to the sports them if Ican customize the layout, look and feel , photos, categories etc.
I appreciate your feed back.
Will the new Pro, Business, and Media be more easy to customize compared to the latest ones?
Thank you once again,
Jason
Hi Brian,
I came back to you after a long time looks like. LAst I heard was that you are going full time solo.
looks like you are making good progress with new wordpress themes.
Gr8 .
all the best
Vineet Nair
Do u think its a good idea to start a blog with eg. b5media ?
Jason - I don’t know yet what the costs will be for each package, nor am I sure upon when they will be released. In terms of customizing them, yes, I am trying to make them even easier than the current Revolution themes are.
Vineet - Many thanks, and yes, this are going well! As far as starting a blog with b5media, I won’t say it’s a bad idea. I don’t have any experience working with them, but I know they run a solid network that gets a lot of traffic.
Hi Brian! I work for VisitSweden and I love your revolution theme.
We currently have about four internal blogs and another four external blogs.
I’m now in the process of importing all of these to mu.wordpress instead in order to simplify administration and access of the different blogs.
I think that perhaps a revolution theme would be a good start page for the internal blogs. Is it possible to display the different blogs instead of where you have pages or even categories(like the news theme middle column?
Or would such a scenario require a customized revolution theme?
I’m interested in your thoughts about this. Thanks.
Let’s see what my tax return holds in store for me
Maybe a revolution developers package??? I hope so!
Brian, you’ve got a great business model going on here, really gearing towards helping those of us who are looking to develop great looking blogs and websites. I’m sure I speak for many when I say :
Thank you!
Hi,
I was just about to buy a Revolution theme which will be customised to act as a website and bolg. Should I wait for the Pro version? IF I go ahead now, will it be easy to upgrade if I want to?
Thanks.
Any plans to integrate more Ajax features into your themes, like searching, e.g.? Elliot Swan’s Better Than Live Ajax Search is nice.
How long approx to release?
Joe - you are very welcome!
Richard - I honestly don’t know when the Pro version will come out. It’s more a matter of working on it when I have spare time, so it could be a week, could be longer. It’s really hard to say.
Philip - at this point no, I don’t have intentions on integrating that. Sorry!
Jacob - see my response to Richard. I’m not working with a deadline, so it’s floating at the moment.
Brian , Does your themes come widget ready? If so, what exactly does this mean? Are they also SEO ready?
What is exactly different in your themes compared to the hundreds / thousands of others?
Thank you ,
I think your pricing is fair when paired with your upgrade and expansion policy. Very fair in fact. I have a few questions.
1. If I get a single license to check out your theme, see how flexible it is for me etc and then decide this thing rocks and I want to in essence make you my in house site designer (not really but you know what I mean) can I then upgrade my purchase to the full developer package and get credited for my single purchase.
2. Is there a point where a customers customization of your theme means we need to drop your mention on the design tag?
3. If you suddenly decide to change your theme name from “Revolution” to something else do those of us who might have bought developers packages now find ourselves out in the cold?
4. Assuming #3 is yes. Have you considered a subscription? Where I would sign on with you and pay a yearly subscription of say $100 and get access to your themes for any of my projects so long as I maintain the subscription?
Honestly I think that #4 model is a great model.
Jeff
Stuc,
I’ve often wondered how people work that, they put out 10 theme’s under an umbrella, and then put out the odd one to capitilize saying well it’s not revolution. Or they will sell a theme and say for 30 bucks you get all the upgrades to the Premium Media Theme, and then release a new one with a new tag line and say, well, it’s not that theme, this is a different one. In other words, they foll you with teh language.
I don’t speak for Brian, and would never suggest that I do, but through my dealings, and relationship with him, I’ve found that he is probably the most forthright and accomidating human beings I’ve met in my life, on the internet or in person. he doesn’t scam people, he tells you how it is, and what he says is always what he means. there’s no need for interpretation.
his support is amazing (and i don’t just say that because I’m part of the team), and overall my experience with him has been better than outstanding. I went through a ton of developers, bought 100 premium themes, and i finally found myself here. He’s the only one that doesn’t seem like he’s in just for a buck, and it’s probably why he has the best theme for wordpress that you can find. It’s still a people business and too many have forgotten that.
So I suggest you buy, not just because you’ll get the best product that money can buy, but because you can always count on someone being there when you need something. Whether if it’s for a simple CSS fix like changing colors, or the need to upgrade to a new version, you’ll find someone that is goign t obe accomidating and reasonable everytime. Brian understands that you may be sold on the appearance of one theme, but find that another version might better suit your purposes, and he’ll listen and be fair everytime. Trust me, I know, I’ve been through it.
Stucarius - to answer your questions in a nutshell-
1) Yes, I always apply the initial purchase towards an upgraded package - which means if you buy the single use package, and want to upgrade to that theme’s multiple use (or the 5-in-1 Developer package) I will apply your $80 to that and you just have to pay the difference.
2) At this point, I have removed anything requiring you to keep it - whether it’s a single use or multiple use package.
3) Not a chance. My intent right now is to continue the legacy of the Revolution theme. I have no intentions on using any other theme names for what Revolution represents, so nobody gets left out in the cold. I have developed a support forum for the site, recently launched an affiliate program and have other Revolution themes in the development process.
4) I have considered the subscription service, but it’s almost been 6 months since the first them came out, and I think I’ve gone too far in this direction to go back and do things different.
Nick, I’m speechless - don’t know what to say regarding your comment, other than a mighty thanks.
[…] the upcoming release of the Revolution Pro theme, I wanted to announce that I’ve decided to change the current Revolution 5-in-1 […]
Hi
I am thinking to purchase the Revolution Magazine theme for my website which promotes sustainable travel in Chinese community (currently the site is in Drupal, and I will change to WordPress).
I may want to make some design changes and add on some plug-ins for additional functions (I want to have a multi-blogger function, and want to integrate Gallery too).
I would love to get your assistance for the site, but If you don’t have time for the modification, can you recommend someone who is reliable and professional?
I really appreciate for your kindly help!
As a VERY happy owner of the Developer Package, I’m humbled that you’re adding the Pro theme to our arsenal.
Thanks for the great work so far, the EXCELLENT support and the ongoing work you do for us.
You freakin’ rock !
