I wholeheartedly admit that I have a tendency to write about me on my blog - makes sense, does it? Well, I want to start opening up my website to include interesting and fun things, in addition to what’s going on with me and my life.

Enter Pink is the New Blog.

I was surfing the web this evening, and looking for interesting blog designs. I stumbled across Pink is the New Blog again - I had randomly landed there a long time ago, but never really became a reader.

I’m typically not a fan of black backgrounds on blogs, but for Pink is the New Blog, I think it works.

Thanks to sites like MySpace, I’ve come to the conclusion that not all successful websites have great design. In fact, I believe that some (including Pink is the New Blog) thrive off of an unorganized, raw look. You’ll find a lot of celebrity sites are that way.

And that’s ok for me, because I think knowing your audience is more important than having a nice design. After all, if the site looks cool, but lacks readership, would one consider that success?

Pink is the New Blog is very symptomatic of a celeb blog - lotsa pink (and other colors), tons of photos, a superfluous amount of ads, which probably utilizes the obscene amount of traffic these type of blogs can get, and makes good money.

Isn’t that why most people create sites?

  2. I’ve been visiting that blog every now and than. Your right that the celeb sites can get away with a lot because people read them regardless of its design. All i do is scan the photos and leave. Don’t notice the ads, but I’m ad blind unless I don’t want to be.

I think as a web developer its hard to see sites that are not ‘on par’ with the times becoming successful because they are just damn ugly sometimes. If you have the audience, design doesn’t matter — its been proven over and over on the Internet!
