Next Stop, the Technorati Top 100

11

You don’t have to tell me that in some cases, numbers and rankings on the internet don’t mean anything. There are a lot of webmasters who will tell you that Google’s Page Rank is a mere green line across your web browser. And they might be right. But on the better things…

At the beginning of this year, I made a few goals for myself and my endeavors with the web. One of which was to achieve my dream of working all day from the luxurious (and oh so yummy) Panera Bread. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen.

Another of my goals, or shall I call it a fun quest for Blogebrity status or perhaps simply notoriety, was to see if I could climb my way up the blogging ladder and crack Technorati’s Top 100 Blogs list.

This morning I woke up to the pleasure of seeing that my blog surpassed 500 in the rankings. Just thought that was cool, and worthy of a post. Seeing that when my blog started, it was ranked well over 2,000,000. Stay tuned to see if I can be the first person ever to crack the Technorati Top 100 without having a Google Page Rank!

    Congratulations on movin’ on up!

congrats brian. I read a thing where apparently schoemaker went up real fast from links and the people over at technorati discounted them and he dropped. Hopefully that’s not the case. I’m still stuck at 67k =P

That deserves a big CONGRATULATIONS!! I read everyday, does that help??

    Good Luck on next goal.

  4. @ Brad - thanks man, hope your gig is going well too! Drop me a line on YIM tomorrow if you have a chance.

@ Dan - If I find out you emailed Technorati and ratted on me I’ll get you banned from YPN! :) Just kidding dude. Still waiting for your site to be done!

@ Jennifer - Very cool that I actually have daily readers. One of these days (even though it was officially a few weeks ago) I’m going to have a Delurk Day! Thanks for being a faithful reader!

  5. Shelli says:

I am a newly faithful reader. When I am not working, that is.

I have a GPR of 4 and if you google “Shelli”, I am the third link that is listed. Does that mean that I actually have a GPR of 3? Of course, I have absolutely no freaking idea what any of these things mean. I want to know, though, how do I find my Technorati rank is?

  6. Shelli says:

Never mind, I found it. I am 17,103–435 links from 186 blogs. So, I am definitely not as good as you and I have been doing this for almost 2 years. hmph! :)

  7. @ Christoph - thanks man, hopefully we’ll get your blog up there!

@ Shelli - Hey, 17,000+ is really good, don’t sweat the numbers. And having a PR of 4 is also good, so you’re hanging tough, and have a great thing going! ;)

  8. Andreas says:

Well, you build WordPress themes. That creates incoming links. I reached as high as #30 on the Top 100 before Technorati decided to take me off the list. Why? Because web designers are not allowed to be on the list. :)

Anyway, my current Technorati rank is #5, and even though that doesn’t really say anything it is pretty cool. Good luck with your aim, but don’t be disappointed when you get lifted off later!

Your page rank is currently 3 , however, as many backlinks as you have you should be a lot higher .
