How About a Little Whitespace

Normally I wait until after I reboot to release the themes that I use on my website – but for some reason tonight I decided to take a page out of Derek Punsalan’s book and release the theme I am currently using.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce the release of the Whitespace WordPress theme!

It’s not exactly the same layout/design as my current website, but the styling is the same. Whitespace is obviously about that – whitespace. It’s geared towards the minimalistic lovers, and ready to be customized to your liking.

Enjoy!

First of all i like this theme… it simple and still very nice… the only thing that I would like to change at it is to add more web 2.0 colors.

First of all Web2.0 is dead, and if it isn’t it should be…As for the theme I must say it is very nice and clean. Very nice work, keep it up.

Hi Brian, first of all i want to thank you very much for your great work in the wordpress community, I’m finishing developing a Site/CMS with parts of your Blue Zifendel Theme (3 column) plus mixed with a bunch of other stuff I’ve developed. The site is a personal tourism site for The Florida Keys in USA, I will be uploading an “About this site” section crediting wordpress and yourself for the theme, I’ve customized categories page to show hotel excerpts, ratings, etc.
Let me Know what do you think about it, the Key West Hotels page is here :
    http://www.traveltothekeys.com/category/key-west-hotels
    and the main page is:
http://www.traveltothekeys.com , if you can add this site to modified samples of your themes it will be great, thanks in advance.

I love all your themes. They inspire me a lot. Thank you for the great work. But the reason I post is another: You probably forgot to adjust the 404.php. It’s looking for the standard sidebar.php which, of course, isn’t present.

  5. @ the Kidd – thanks for pointing that out – I updated the download file!

Brian, can you tell me what skin you were using for your forum when you used white space as your theme?

  7. Sure, it was phpBB and the template was called Coldsteel. Obviously I modified it to flow with my site….

    Hey Brian,

I am currently using your theme on one of my web-sites “Bust to Bracelet” (http://busttobracelet.com) and have been working on modifying it slightly to better fit my site.

I just have a few questions:

    1) When adding custom widgets to the left sidebar, do I lose the styling currently in place. I attempted to do this earlier today and instead of the nice styling that was in place, I was presented with plain links that fit into the menu, but weren’t styled in the same way as the links that stand there by default. Is this intended? Should I simply add a text box with the heading name there and then put the PHP code into the text box in order to achieve the same effect?

    2) I think it’ d be great if you somehow managed to build in the footer so it could be edited through the Widgets section under Presentation. If I want to edit it, I only need to go to “footer.php” and make the desired changes, correct?

    3) I have some Feedflare that I want to add into the template, however, when I put it in the appropriate place (just after the DIV CLASS = “postmeta”), it doesn’t show up in my actual posts, only in my RSS feed. On another web-site I own, links to the E-Mail It, Digg It, etc. show up in the actual post itself on the site. Am I missing something in the CSS or was my other site just unusual?

I know you’re very busy, but I look forward to hearing back from you when you have a chance.

    Thanks,
    Sky

Brian, it’s been a while since I’ve been to your site. You’ve done an absolutely fabulous job on the Whitespace theme! It’s a joy to work with. While your Vertigo theme worked very well, I was looking for a change. Whitespace has a nice balance of classiness and simplicity that I felt was missing by the time I had cluttered up Vertigo with all of my modifications :-)

Thanks for the great work, as always, and congratulations on your success with the Revolution themes!

    Hi Brian,

First of all, I want to say thank you for making such beautiful, clean designed themes. Since I started blogging recently, your themes are the only ones that I’ve used. This Whitespace design is great. I do have one question though that was brought up by Sky above.

For some reason, the sidebar(s) lose there styling when I use widgets. Is there any additional coding that I need to add to?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Keep up the great work.

I’m using your Whitespace theme to develop a new website, but I’ve run ito a problem. On any page where there are posts, the right column falls down below the posts. For Home and About, everything looks great. Any ideas? Thanks!
