Hey Bill Gates, Mozilla Firefox is Rediscovering the Web

This is amazing. I was checking my blog stats the other day, and nearly fell out of my chair when I saw this graph. I know that Mozilla Firefox was making a name for themselves, but I didn’t realize that this many people were using it for a web browser.

I’ll give credit where it’s due, and say thanks to my friend Amy for introducing me to the little furry fox wrapped around a globe. I love the tabbed browsing, the extensions, and simply the overall feel of Firefox as a web browser.

I will say that I’m still a fan of Microsoft, as MSN is my default home page, and I bounce back and forth between Google and Live Search when I need to look for something.

So take it from my web stats….it looks as though Mozilla Firefox has conquered Internet Explorer. By greater than a 2:1 ratio.

At my sites IE is still no.1 (80%) and Fx no. 2 (15%). I think people who is webmasters use Fx more than others.

On the biggest webmasteforum (Norskwebforum.no) in Norway we can see the same thing, most people use Fx or Opera (I’m a moderator there).

But I hope I can show a similar stat for my pages in the future.

And why shouldn’t it do so…

  3. I have no problem that it does, because I prefer Firefox over IE. I’m happy to see this chart!

Abhishek: Bacause it’s a faster, safer and better browser ;)

You prompted me to take a look at my browser stats as well, and FireFox is a close second to IE. I use FireFox on my personal PC, and a combination of IE and FireFox at work. I know that IE7 is causing headaches for some of our users, in the way it handles session cookies.

From my viewpoint, Microsoft has been a little frustrating lately. And, don’t even get me started on the sorry excuse for an OS that is Windows Vista :-)

  6. Dear Brian,
I, too, use Firefox since a couple of months. So, when I come here, I’m in your stats ! And proud of it, Firefox is probably now what I can call a «life changer», for a tiny newbie like me !
…and again, thanks for all the great work with Vertigo. It’s now mostly «stable» on my site, but not yet XHTML perfect, and I still get a lots of positive comments on it !
(nevertheless, still got a lot of problems fixing the date calendar, such yours and House of Boyd type, as I use a plugin that translate date in french automatically…) Anyway, thanks again, mostly for all the great responses and help that you provide me since I installed it and turn it into a frenchy-template !
