Here’s a Little Sneak Peek

For those of you have know I am in the process of building what I am calling Brian Gardner 2.0.

It’s going to be a radical change, but one in my opinion that is justified. Now I know that I’m taking a risk with undertaking a project of this complexity, both in content as well as design, but those of you who are into web design know that pushing the envelope is quite the enticing thing.

To explain away this transformation would be both redundant and tiresome. Just know that what I unveil shortly is something I will be happy with. And trust me, for me to be happy with something is amazing. But more importantly, if I like it, if I support it, and if I believe in it, then I will be a lot more likely to contribute to it.

Which will hopefully give my readers something to look forward to. Writing from the heart.

I left a comment, but it isn’t here. It got moofed.

  2. Yannick says:

That little teaser looks rather interesting Brian. Looking forward to seeing it revealed in full.

  3. @ Shelli – leave it again! I’m interested to hear what you have to say.
@Yannick – A teaser it is, for now, until it’s time to unveil!

I’ve just found your rebooted designs testing URI and it looks, well, average. Be good to see it fully finished and the concept working :)

  5. Craig says:

Oh and by the way, when on a page (e.g. page.php) your footer breaks, using Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP Professional at 1900 x 1440 screen resolution.

  6. Craig says:

Sorry for the 3rd post, when you resize the page to below 900px (e.g. 800×600 users) the layout breaks as well.

  7. Wow, Craig, you’re quite the investigative person aren’t you? Perhaps I should password protect that page. ;)

Yes, I know things break, that’s why it’s someplace else and not live yet. I am only in the middle of coding the homepage, which is why the page files, etc break. And since less than 2% of my visitors view in anything lower than 1024, I have created my theme to accommodate them.

  8. Craig says:

As a web developer myself I just decided to see if you chose any of the “common” sub-folder names for a redesigns, and it turns out you did :P

Good luck on the bug hunting though! Also the least fun part of developing a site is crushing out the problems due to end-users ever changing settings.

  9. Zebra says:

Great design, the only thing I don’t like is that your face looks to serious, even severe. How about a more friendly-looking picture?

  10. Good catch Craig, glad to know you aren’t a hacker. :)

@ Zebra – Yes, after looking at the picture again, I agree, so I blanked it out until I find a better one.

  11. Flukeit says:

Looks good Brian, can’t wait to see it all!

  12. Thanks Brad, should be ready sometime soon. :)

  13. Red says:

    This looks familiar… http://www.humblevoice.com

  14. Yes, you are correct, this current version of my theme is heavily influenced by that site. I tried my best to take just a few of their ideas, mainly the navigation across the top and the bg image, and the general idea of the sidebar. My original look (as seen in the image in this post) resembled their site too much IMO, and I didn’t want any issues with that, so I ditched the entire way my homepage looked.
