Closing Up Shop
Four days from now we’ll be on our way to the Sunshine State, so that we can embark on a much-needed trip down to the Caribbean. Many of you know that my wife Shelly and I love cruises, so this should come as no surprise to you. The past few months have been among the busiest for our us, so it’s time to take a break!
I thought it would be fun to show you where we are headed - I’ll be thinking of you all while we’re away! In fact, knowing me, I’ll probably post a time or two just updating you on the weather!
This might be the last post I write before we leave on Saturday, but I’ll be checking to see what’s going on around the blogosphere while we’re onboard. Darn Royal Caribbean has internet access on the boat - the nerve, huh? I can’t resist checking email, and doing a little work even on vacation.
Another piece of news, is that I am currently constructing what will become the new theme here on my site, but who knows when it will actually go live. With supporting the Revolution themes, creating the new business, the holidays, etc, there’s little time to do fun stuff like reboot my own site! Settle down, this won’t be happening tomorrow!
Here’s a little preview of the new look. Yes, it’s my typical style, simple, contemporary, but should have some fun concepts as I move closer to going solo with my own business. A few things that will start to be on my site… video blogging, a WordPress resource center, and a better theme/portfolio section.

Ahh…coming through my neck of the woods. I live in Jacksonville, FL. Have a great time on your cruise Brian!
Tracy
Sounds like a great vacation. You’re departing from the city I’m currently living in - Miami. We have some bad weather right now, so don’t expect too much “sunshine” when you arrive (thanks to Noel).
Don’t work too hard while on the cruise. Have fun! Good luck with Noel, it looks like you may be going right towards him.
I don’t know why you’d want to abandon Chi-town just when the weather is getting lovely.
Myself, who grew up in the Land of Lincoln, could never wait for the bone-chilling Novembers.
I think vacations should be Internet free — otherwise, they are just work with a great view. I’ve suggested Internet-blocking technology along with random searches for BlackBerries, cell phones, etc., but haven’t gotten much response from the vacation industry.
Have a good one, btw.
@ Tracy - Thanks, we’ll actually be flying over your neck of the woods, so I’ll drop you a care package!
@ Robert - As far as I know, the Hurricane is supposed to be gone by the time we get down there, hopefully that’s the case. I won’t work to hard, trust me!
@ Ed - There weather up here isn’t that bad right now… supposed to be upper 60’s today! As for internet free, no can do - have to respond to people regarding the purchasing of Revolution.
Not to mention, I’ll have to pick my fantasy football lineup for the week!
Have a nice trip Brian. Come back safe!
Oh that sounds so wondeful! My husband and I are in the planning stages of a cruise to the Caribbean, too! We’re looking at March, for our two year anniversary. We’re both divers, so we’re doing a Western Caribbean route because they hit the best dive spots
Bring back beautiful pictures to make us all jealous!!
Thanks Deborah, I’ll do my best to make it back safe! Lauren, I’ll be sure to show some pics - I am planning on going snorkeling in St. Maarten, so that should be fun!
Have a great time on your cruise !!
Matej, thanks - I edited your comment because you figured out something that most people don’t know about - that’s my testing ground!
Sounds amazing Brian, a different world away from Blackpool, UK
Have fun & relax mate
Have a great time. While you’re baking on deck I may be downloading the single-use Revolution theme to test for a project. Can I upgrade to multi-site license later?
Speaking of Revolution and the islands… I went on a similar cruise with my parents back in the late 70s… the night we were cruising to Granada an anti-American coup overthrew the gov’t while El Presidente was in Nuevo York (no lie) at a science fiction convention. Later on the Federation starships retook the island, making it safe once again for duty-free shopping.
Ah.. St. Maarten! So that sort of my neck of the woods.
I mean, the island is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands … or am I stretching it too much now
Have fun!
Hope you have a fun and safe trip! Enjoy!
Brain -
Great new home site! Would you, are you going to consider making it available for purchase?
Have a great cruise . . .
