And When She Danced
Can you go back in time, to a place in your mind…
I used to reminisce a lot more than I do now, mainly because years ago I was trying to fill a void in my life I no longer need to seek. But once in a while I find myself taking a stroll down memory lane and I enjoy it. There are times in my life that were simply unforgettable. Not ones I wish I could relive, or go back to, but ones that were of comprised nothing more than innocence and simplicity.
It’s funny how much you think life matters when you’re in high school. The things that go on in those days don’t even come close to mattering as much as they do now when you get older. Yet somehow, when you’re young it’s so easy to focus on things that seem so important, but are easily trivialized nowadays.
I think that everyone should have memories, songs and places that they should hold on to. It’s easy for me to look back and see how certain people and circumstances have built me into the person I am now, and thank those were a part of my life back then. Without those people, who knows where my life would have led.
For me, reminiscing is therapeutic. It helps me put into perspective life nowadays versus life years ago. Neither of which really matter in the grand scheme of things, because life is really short when you think about it. Nevertheless, it’s quite numbing to close my eyes and to get lost in a world of yesterdays.
So back to the original question.
Can you go back in time, to a place in your mind? I highly recommend it…
