A Revolutionary Free Blog Theme

A Revolutionary Free Blog ThemeIt’s been a while since I have released a free WordPress theme, but I’m very happy to announce that I have developed a special Revolution blog theme that will be available at no cost.

Similar to the phpBB3 forum templates, the blog theme will be available on the main Revolution site.

Go ahead and check out the demo site, and let me know what you think. My hope is to add some additional style sheets, so that this will be available in a variety of colors. But for now, blue is the default color scheme for the free blog theme.

Comments and suggestions welcome. After I receive some feedback, I will wrap it nicely, put a bow on top and make it available to everyone hopefully by early next week!

Here’s a screenshot below, so you can see what it looks like:

    Brian,

This is a great theme and I just grabbed it too. I was wondering what the adsense line in the index.php was about?

Just another piece of art :)
All your themes are great man!

I saw this theme and wanted to convert my current syllabus site to a WP managed site. I do not know php and the innards of WP, so I am at a loss to figure out how to add a multi-level menu structure at the top. I will greatly appreciate any assistance you may provide on this. My current site is at:
    http://academic.cemalekin.com
and I am planning to make the following my new syllabus site:
    http://www.cemalekin.com/index.php

    Thanks in advance

I think I have discovered the answer, it could not have been simpler. Thank you.

I am back with another question. Although the instructions say “There are no limits to how deeply nested you can make pages” a third level page does not show up in the menu. In the “Pages” listing I see the following (roughly):

    Must Read
    - On Writing
    — Documents

all indicating the child-parent relationship correctly. But on the menu only the second level items show up. I can certainly put “Documents” on the second level but I wanted to report this behavior in case it needs fixing.

What font are you using in the header logo? Seems like a condensed Helvetica but none of mine match.

Great theme; thanks for making it a free one.

  7. Tim – thanks, the font is Hypatia Sans Pro!

Just downloaded it, this looks like it’s going to be a fun ride. Thanks!

  9. Brian, awesome theme – but I’ve found that it doesn’t handle inline images in posts very well.

    Some examples:

    http://www.fiftieshouse.com/2007/06/08/were-not-dead-yet/

    http://www.fiftieshouse.com/2006/05/23/paint-suggestions/

I’ve been able to make it a *little* better with larger images (500px wide) by changing the CSS so that #contentleft{width} is smaller (say 520px), but haven’t found a solution for posts with inline small images yet.

For example, a post with a larger image:

    http://weblog.mrbill.net/archives/2008/05/24/fun-with-vmware/

If I dont reduce contentleft-width, the text tries to wrap around the right hand side of the image.

    Any suggestions?

  10. Martin says:

I’m having trouble with posting graphic images within the text body of articles. The theme seems to automatically insert the graphic at the top of the post.

When I try to post an article with multiple images (stock charts for example) within the same post, I have to stop, switch to html mode vs. visual; and then copy & paste the html code into the proper body text area, and then switch back to “visual” to continue writing body text.

Also, unless I use a full size image, the text automatically wraps around the graphics (regardless if I use no align, left, right, or center), in odd ways – and I’ve found no way to correct this, other than to use maximum/over-sized images that take up the entire text block width of the post.

Any fixes for this? It’s taking me “hours” to write a WP post (switching back & forth from “visual” to “html” mode, and cutting & pasting, html text of the graphics, and then re-positioning them in the text) containing multiple graphic charts, that should only take me “minutes.”

    Thanks

  11. Nevermind on my question – I’ve switched back to a different theme that handles inline images in posts correctly.

Brian, all my thanks! I’ve followed you since I found this site and your awesome work. Let me say that’s the best free theme I’ve ever seen here and anywhere on the net!
I hope you’ll really give us the possibility to have it in a different (red??!) color scheme as soon as possible. In that case, it will be such an obliged choice!!

    Kind regards,
    Vale
