A Fun Experiment and Opportunity to Delurk
I was checking my Google Analytics account tonight, and noticed a nice increase in traffic since January 1st. In fact, since then, I have had over 28,000 unique visitors, with over 100,000 page views.
What I really want to know is this. How many people coming here are checking out themes vs. reading the blog.
So I’m performing a fun experiment. For those of you who frequent my site and blog, please drop me a quick comment to say hi. If you are a lurker, and normally don’t comment, here’s a fun chance for you to do it.
I’m just curious who’s who and what people read. (Truth be told, I have writer’s cramp and thought that this would be a good way to post something unusual, yet enjoyable.)

Dropped by (via The Wood Wisperer) to check out their site designer.
David, thanks for dropping by and saying hi!
I’m here. I think I have been since Jan. 1. That’s why you have so many visitors. They come to see what I have to say.
Just kidding.
You have over 28,000 hits? Since then?!! How does that happen? I just started a new blog and I need to get it’s PR up and it’s Alexa rank down. Got any ideas?
You wanna know how it happens? Check out #89 on this page: http://www.technorati.com/pop/blogs/
Hi Brian,
I have to say that I came by for the themes, to find out if there might be an update for the blue zinfandel (my favorite grape by the way) as forcing the images to float left did not seem right.
I mean I took that out of the css but I still wonder why you put it in there as it kills what I set when editing my post.
But altogether a very nice theme.
Thanks
Merlin
Merlin, there are two separate parts of the css that have float: left. Most people I’ve come in contact with like images aligned left, which is why I did that. Although you are right, some people like the option, and this kills the option.
Glad you enjoy the theme, and I sent you a note saying I’d fix the theme for ya!
I come here casually for the themes, your blog always on my rss reader. have a nice day!
Thanks Rangga, nice to see you back!
Hi Brian - I was looking at another site and saw your name in reference to themes and your name sounded familiar to me. Turns out, I think we went to Youth Group together in Northbrook many years ago, but I could be wrong. I’m a sucker for a good blog, so since then, I’ve been a semi-regular visitor. Take care!
Kristy, I’m thinking we did too. Are you referring to St. John’s church??? I sent you an email, asking to hit me up on YIM.
Occasional reader just saying hi. Congrats on the stats and the performancing gig.
Hi, my name is Chad…and I am a lurker! Great work, Brian! Thanks for the great themes, and great reads!
Hi,
Here is another statistic. I am a first time reader of your blog. I was searching google for poetry but I haven’t found any at your site. I have only been here for five seconds so the poetry may be in the hidden compartment.
Please have a look at my site which contains poetry and photos.
Regards,
Coral
@ Kris - Thanks, hope occasional becomes regular!
@ Chad - Love to see lurkers claim themselves, thanks for the comments about the themes. Glad someone likes them!
@ Coral - Good catch on the poetry, when I rebooted this site, I eliminated that aspect of it. However, next time I redo my site, it will get back in!
I read BG.com everynight before bed. It gives me sweeeet dreams.
Dan, you kill me. Good thing our paths crossed last year huh? I’m glad they did. Nothing beats your french fries story!
I think you know I read here. I comment sometimes. Anways….I read this post too. Keep up the great work. I love it.
I can’t remember exactly where I got your link from but it was for the Vertigo theme which I’m using now. Even though I couldn’t solve the mystery of the missing header, I liked your theme so much, I’ve worked my way around the problem.
Emigre, go to the Vertigo Electrified theme page here on my site, I answered your missing header question yesterday! Certainly glad to have you here as well!
Hi Brian,
I am still around and I guess you can call me a lurker.
Hey Christhop - you’re no longer a lurker, since you’ve posted a comment. How’s the blog coming?
I was reading through the comments (no, I am not stalking you, I don’t think) and saw Merlin’s comment. So I went a-looking for grape zinfandel, but all I could find was blue. I love purple. Where do I find grape, if it is indeed purple-ish?
Hm, Grape Zinfandel? Never seen it before. Now Strawberry Zinfandel…..yummy!
Hi Brian,
Your all theme is the best …
Nice and glad …
