Once in a while I come across a site using one my themes that makes me remember why I do what I do. It’s kinda like a needle in a haystack, finding a site out of the 22,000+ links coming back to my blog here…
But that once in a while comes, well, once in a while.
Last night I came across a site that just made me smile. It was a wedding site, for Linz and Jess… two people getting ready to make one of the biggest decisions and commitments in their life, have decided to share it with the world, and used my theme to do so.
Seeing things like this, once again, remind me of why I do the things I do…
This might be one of my funnest posts to date. As some of you know, I do web design on the side - many late nights and busy weekends… anyway, I’m planning on starting a company, but need a name!
Here’s where you, my loyal readers come in. I need your help naming it!
Basically what I am looking for is a two-word name, last word being Media. So something like Sawtooth Media. Obviously that’s just an example.
So the first word needs to be pretty short. Nothing like Encyclopedia Media. Feel free to leave a comment if you have a cool name for me, and if I choose something that someone has suggested, I’ll somehow reward you for it!
Being an internet geek and freelance web designer, I spend a lot of time on the internet. Some of which is learning new things, some killing time reading blogs and some doing work for clients.
Recently, I began a celebrity blog with a guy that’s becoming a good friend, which has been really fun so far. I know how much the internet is used, how many searches happen on a daily basis, but didn’t fully grasp that until yesterday, when we witnessed something truly amazing.
We got buzzed by Yahoo.
Are you sitting down? In a three hour span yesterday afternoon, our celebrity website received almost 10,000 unique visitors. The stat counter we have nearly fried since that’s a new visitor to the site every second for three hours.
It was a total rush… so, have you been buzzed by Yahoo?
I don’t speak Spanish, but I can assure you that I know what Mi Vida Loca means. My life has been pretty crazy over the past few weeks, and I’ve barely had time to breathe, let alone blog.
Trust me, I am not complaining.
I want to say thanks to my good friend Ted, who’s taken some time over the past few months to coach me on the business side of my life. He’s been a great resource as I take steps with my website/theme design business. So thanks Ted!
Not to mention today was a really good day - he and I met for coffee, and I’m pretty sure he’s going to be lacing up his shoes as well and joining me for the Chicago Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, so I won’t be walking those 60 miles alone. Definitely looking forward to that!
Other than that, not much else to report. Just being a hubby (had a date night last night), a dad (snuggled with my little buddy Zach all day) and an internet addict (blogging as we speak.)
